Maximos Zachariadis, born in Greece and a graduate from the Philadelphia University of Arts in the USA, with studies in Jewelry and Metalsmithing, started experimenting early on with the idea of jewels as pieces of art. Prior to dedicating his design time to the art of jewelry making, Maximos had already got gallery curators’ blood pumping with his unique art installations and his compositions which he presented in art exhibitions in Philadelphia, London and Athens.
Drawing his inspiration from clean, geometric forms, he “handles” every design as a piece of art, an absolute reflection of his gentle approach and non-pretentious philosophy. It all starts with a simple yet complex design idea. The challenge is to translate a jewel into a little piece of art that can be worn and appreciated every day.
Maximos has been designing jewels since 1989 and has undertaken the creation of exclusive jewels and collections for private owners, prestigious fashion houses and jewelry stores, private galleries, museums and multinational companies, such as Lakis Gavalas, Vourakis, Harvey Nichols, British Museum, Korres, L’Oreal, Coca Cola. He worked in Hermes, London for three years and returned in 2002 to open his store, MAXIMOS, in the centre of Athens, which he kept until 2009. Maximos is currently participating in the group of modern jewelry creators “A Jewel Made in Greece”, which mainly aims to promote Greek jewelry abroad.
